Ogromny praski metronom powstał w 1991 roku na miejscu wyburzonego w 1962 roku pomnika Józefa Stalina. Autorem i pomysłodawcą konstrukcji był Vratislav Karel Novák. Praski, największy na świecie monument poświęcony Stalinowi zrealizowano w 1955 roku. Pomnik z cokołem miał ponad 50 metrów wysokości, a przy jego budowie zginęło 6 robotników. Na fali odwilży i krytyki „kultu jednostki” został wysadzony w powietrze w listopadzie 1962 roku. Górujące obecnie nad Pragą dzieło Vratislava Nováka nosi tytuł „Wehikuł czasu”.

Prague metronome. The huge Prague metronome was built in 1991 on the site of the monument to Joseph Stalin, demolished in 1962. The author and originator of the structure was Vratislav Karel Novák. Prague, the world’s largest monument dedicated to Stalin, was completed in 1955. The monument with a pedestal was over 50 meters high, and 6 workers died during its construction. On the wave of the thaw and criticism of the „cult of personality”, it was blown up in November 1962. The work by Vratislav Novák currently towering over Prague is titled „The Time Machine”.
